The University of Lagos (UNILAG) offers a one-year School of Foundation Studies programme that prepares candidates for the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) examination and provides a pathway to Direct Entry admission into the 200 Level of degree programmes. The programme, formerly known as the Foundation Programme, is administered through the School of Foundation Studies, University of Lagos. Candidates who successfully complete the programme and perform well in the approved JUPEB examination are eligible for consideration for Direct Entry admission into 200 Level through JAMB, subject to the admission requirements, available spaces and other conditions of the University. UNILAG JUPEB admission is available to suitably qualified candidates who meet the required O'Level qualifications. The School of Foundation Studies provides intensive instruction in subjects based on the approved JUPEB syllabus and the candidate's selected subject combination. Before commencing the main one-year Foundation Studies programme, applicants are required to take the UNILAG Foundation Studies Entrance Examination. The entrance examination is conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and consists entirely of multiple-choice questions. The UNILAG Foundation Studies entrance examination consists of:

• English Language – 20 questions
• Mathematics – 20 questions
• Three other relevant subjects based on the candidate's chosen subject combination – 15 questions each

This makes a total of 85 questions to be answered within 45 minutes. Candidates who select Mathematics as one of their three JUPEB subjects are required to select Further Mathematics as a subject in the entrance examination combination. UNILAG JUPEB subject combinations are based on the candidate's proposed course of study.
