Neco (SSCE)

The National Examinations Council (NECO) is one of Nigeria’s major examination bodies responsible for conducting senior secondary school examinations and certification assessments nationwide. Established in 1999 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, NECO was created to provide an alternative indigenous examination body capable of delivering credible, affordable, and accessible examinations for Nigerian students. NECO conducts several examinations, with the most popular being the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), which is taken by secondary school students across the country. The council also conducts the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for junior secondary school students as well as other national assessments.
