Admission into UI is highly competitive, with thousands of candidates applying yearly through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB. To further assess candidates, the university conducts a Post UTME screening examination for applicants seeking undergraduate admission.
The UI Post UTME examination format is conducted using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, and candidates are required to be physically present at the University of Ibadan for the screening exercise.
Candidates are tested in four subjects related to their intended course of study, with Use of English being compulsory for all candidates. The examination consists of 100 questions to be answered within 90 minutes, making speed, accuracy, and proper time management very important.
The screening exercise mainly consists of multiple-choice questions, where candidates are expected to select the correct answer from a list of options. Questions are usually based on the candidate’s UTME subject combination and topics related to the official syllabus.
Preparing with UI Post UTME past questions and answers is one of the most effective ways to understand the university’s examination pattern, repeated topics, and question style. Past questions help candidates become more familiar with the CBT format and improve confidence ahead of the screening exercise.
Candidates are also encouraged to participate in regular UI CBT practice tests to improve speed, accuracy, and examination readiness. Practicing under timed conditions helps candidates become more comfortable with the examination environment and enhances overall performance.
Due to the highly competitive nature of admission into UI, candidates are advised to study consistently, follow the syllabus closely, practice past questions regularly, and stay updated with official information regarding cut-off marks, screening schedules, and admission requirements.
