University of llorin

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), popularly known by its slogan “Better By Far”, was established in 1975 and is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most sought-after federal universities. Located in Ilorin, Kwara State, the university has built a strong reputation for academic excellence, stable academic calendars, research, innovation, and quality education across various disciplines. UNILORIN describes itself as the “Citadel of Pleasant Possibilities”, reflecting its commitment to creating an environment that supports learning, innovation, leadership, and personal development. The university operates on core values known as INJECT, which represent Integrity, Networking, Justice, Excellence, Compassion, and Teamwork. These values contribute significantly to the academic and moral development of students within the institution. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through several faculties, colleges, institutes, and research centers. Its colleges include the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, and Faculty of Clinical Sciences. Other major faculties include the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Life Sciences. UNILORIN offers highly competitive courses such as Medicine and Surgery, Law, Nursing, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Accounting, Political Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, and many other programmes across different faculties and departments. The university also operates several institutes and specialized centers including the Institute of Developmental Studies, Institute of Medical Research and Training, Institute of Translation Arts, Sugar Research Institute, and the Unilorin Institute of Discovery. Other important centers include the Centre for Cybersecurity and Sustainable Development, Centre for International Education, Centre for Gender Studies, and the Centre for Cultural Studies and Creative Arts. In addition to regular undergraduate programmes, the university also provides opportunities through Continuing Education and Open and Distance Learning (ODL), giving students flexible pathways to achieve their academic goals. Admission into UNILORIN is highly competitive, with thousands of candidates applying yearly through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB. To further assess candidates seeking undergraduate admission, the university conducts a Post UTME screening examination. The UNILORIN Post UTME examination format is conducted physically using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) system. Candidates are required to be physically present at the university or designated screening centers for the examination. The screening exercise consists of 50 questions, which include English Language, Mathematics, and Current Affairs/General Knowledge regardless of the candidate’s course of study. The examination mainly consists of multiple-choice questions, and candidates are expected to answer accurately within the allotted time (30 minutes). After the examination, candidates’ scores are typically converted into a percentage score over 30 marks, which contributes to the university’s admission screening process. Preparing with UNILORIN Post UTME past questions and answers is one of the most effective ways to understand the university’s examination pattern, repeated topics, and question style. Past questions help candidates become familiar with the CBT format and improve examination confidence. Candidates are also encouraged to participate in regular UNILORIN CBT practice tests to improve speed, accuracy, and time management. Consistent practice under exam conditions helps candidates perform better during the actual screening exercise. Due to the highly competitive nature of admission into UNILORIN, candidates are advised to study thoroughly, practice past questions regularly, stay informed about admission guidelines, and prepare adequately for the General Knowledge based section of the examination.
