Correct Answer: Option C
Explanation:
General Ibrahim Babangida's transition programme officially began in 1987, following his announcement of the plan in 1986 and the setting up of the Political Bureau to chart the direction of the transition. The programme was originally meant to end in 1990 but was extended several times, eventually leading to the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was annulled before the results could be formally released. That annulment threw the transition into crisis and eventually forced Babangida out of office.
