The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially announced the schedule for the 2025/2026 Orientation Programme and Matriculation Ceremony for all newly admitted UTME, Direct Entry, and ICE students.
The series of activities, which are designed to introduce freshers to key academic and social aspects of university life, will commence on
Thursday, December 11, 2025.
According to the university, attendance is highly encouraged as the events will provide essential guidance on academic services, campus policies, student support systems, and the overall culture of the institution. The Orientation Programme also offers fresh students the opportunity to engage with various clubs, societies, and key units responsible for their welfare and development throughout their stay on campus.
Activities will kick off on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 8:30a.m. with a campus tour and an advocacy campaign against sexual harassment, drug abuse, rape, cultism, and other related social issues. The tour will begin at the frontage of the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium. Later that day, by 12:00 noon, freshers will take part in an interactive session paired with the Institution/Unit/Clubs & Association Fair at the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall.
On Friday, December 12, 2025, the programme continues at 9:00a.m. with another interactive session and a guided tour of the University Main Library. Activities will be shared between the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall and the Main Library.
Events resume the following week on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 9:00a.m. with more engagement sessions and opportunities for freshers to connect with various associations. A novelty football match will also be held later that day from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at the Sports Centre.
Tuesday, December 16, 2025 has been set aside for the entertainment segment of the orientation, which will hold at the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium by 2:00p.m.

The highlight of the entire programme - the Matriculation Ceremony - will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 starting at 9:00a.m. at the Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall, marking the official induction of new students into the university community.
To round off the week, two special religious services will be held for new students. Muslim freshers will participate in a Jumat Service on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the UNILAG Mosque by 1:00p.m., while Christian freshers will gather for a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the Chapel of Christ Our Light, UNILAG by 9:00a.m.
The institution assures that the Orientation Programme remains a vital pathway for fostering positive academic journeys and a sense of belonging among new students. Freshers are therefore encouraged to fully participate in all scheduled activities as they begin their transition into university life at UNILAG.
