The assistant typically works in collaboration with the school’s modern language teachers, providing support for their lessons. This may involve working with the entire class alongside the teacher or engaging with smaller groups of students separately to provide more focused practice and interaction.

Assistants are classified as non-permanent State agents, working 12 hours per week. The contract duration is seven months, from October 1 to April 30, except for German assistants, whose contracts run for six months, ending March 31.
