About 2025 German Bundestag Scholarship


The German Bundestag Scholarship is designed to equip African students with the skills and knowledge needed to actively and responsibly contribute to shaping the democratic future of their nations.

Since 2020, the German Bundestag has offered this scholarship program to support talented and politically engaged young university graduates from sub-Saharan Africa.

The program seeks candidates who demonstrate a strong interest in the German parliamentary system and are dedicated to promoting democratic values in their home countries.



German Bundestag Scholarship 2025 Benefits

  • Scholarship Value: €700, free accommodation, travel expenses coverage, and health, accident, and liability insurance
  • Internship: One-week placement in a German Bundestag member’s office
  • Curriculum: In-depth knowledge of parliamentary democracy, political decision-making, and workshops on societal issues



2025 German Bundestag Scholarship Eligibility

  • Citizenship: From Botswana, Namibia, South Africa (Southern Africa); Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda (East Africa); Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal (West Africa)
  • Age: Below 30 at the start of the scholarship on January 1st
  • Education: Completed university studies
  • Language: Proficient in German (at least B2 level)
    strong interest in political contexts as well as social/political commitment

  • Letter of Recommendation
  • Letter of motivation in German with your handwritten signature (maximum two pages);
  • Copy of passport or copy ID;
  • Degree certificate from the university
  • Proof of German Language proficiency
