2025 Makerere University Mastercard Scholarship Eligibility
To qualify for the 2025 Makerere University Mastercard Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Undergraduate Eligibility Criteria
- Must have applied for admission to Makerere University’s main campus under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2025/2026 academic year
- Must have completed advanced secondary education or its equivalent in a Sub-Saharan African country.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must not hold any other scholarship, including the Government of Uganda Scholarship.
- Must not have completed any undergraduate degree program.
- Must demonstrate leadership potential and/or active involvement in community service.
Must be 28 years old or younger at the application deadline; however, applicants who are refugees, internally displaced persons, or students with disabilities should be 32 years old or younger. - Refugee applicants must possess a Refugee Identity Card or Family Attestation.
Applicants from refugee host communities must have completed their secondary education within those communities. - Must apply for degree programs prioritized under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
Master’s Eligibility Criteria
- Must have applied for admission to Makerere University’s main campus for the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Must have completed undergraduate education in a Sub-Saharan African country.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must not hold any other scholarships.
Must not be pursuing or have completed any master's degree studies. - Must demonstrate leadership potential and/or active involvement in community service.
- Must be 35 years old or younger at the application deadline; however, applicants who are refugees or students with disabilities should be 40 years old or younger.
