McDonald Fellowship Eligibility

To be eligible for the McDonald Fellowship 2026, applicants must:
  • Be citizens of low- or middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank)
  • Hold at least an MSc in a field relevant to multiple sclerosis (PhD/MD preferred)
  • Be currently working or studying in an eligible country, or
  • Be working or studying abroad on a project that began within the last 6 months, or
  • Be a current Du Pré grant recipient
  • Have identified a host institution and supervisor outside their home country
  • Propose a research project focused on multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Intend to return to their home country after the fellowship to continue MS-related work
  • Not have previously received a McDonald Fellowship (past Du Pré recipients are eligible)
