2025 UTME: Top 10 Universities with the Highest Number of Applicants Revealed




The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and Lagos State University (LASU) have emerged as the leading choices for candidates in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This announcement was made by JAMB's Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2024 policy meeting, where he highlighted the institutions that attracted the highest number of applicants.


Here is the list of the top 10 most sought-after universities by UTME candidates:
  • University of Ilorin (UNILORIN): 64,343 applicants
  • Lagos State University (LASU): 62,601 applicants
  • University of Lagos (UNILAG): 59,105 applicants
  • Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE): 55,481 applicants
  • Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK): 54,495 applicants
  • University of Ibadan (UI): 50,598 applicants
  • University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN): 48,544 applicants
  • University of Benin (UNIBEN): 47,811 applicants
  • Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU): 44,155 applicants
