About African Union Innovating Education

The Innovating Education in Africa (IEA) 2025 is a flagship initiative of the African Union Commission, designed to promote the discovery and scaling of homegrown, technology-driven, and impactful educational innovations. Launched in 2018, the program identifies and supports African-led solutions that improve learning outcomes, bridge access gaps, and enhance education delivery across the continent.

Each year, the IEA brings together education innovators, policymakers, and stakeholders to showcase cutting-edge practices that are transforming Africa’s education systems. Through funding, visibility, and strategic partnerships, the initiative accelerates the adoption of evidence-based innovations that align with the AU’s Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA 16–25).

In 2025, the program will award up to $50,000 each to three outstanding innovations that have demonstrated measurable impact and potential for integration into national education systems.
