The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has received the National Universities Commission (NUC) approval to begin six new academic programmes from the 2025/2026 academic session. The newly accredited courses mark a major expansion of the institution’s academic portfolio and its commitment to producing skilled professionals for Nigeria’s workforce.

The newly accredited programmes include:
- Law (LL.B.)
- Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
- Quantity Surveying (B.Sc.)
- Urban and Regional Planning (B.Sc.)
- Nutrition and Dietetics (B.Sc.)
- Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.)

The approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC to ensure that FULafia meets the required academic and infrastructural standards for the new programmes. In his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, expressed gratitude to the NUC for the confidence reposed in the university and commended the Academic Planning Directorate and other stakeholders for their hard work and dedication in securing the accreditation.
Professor Abdul Rahman described the approval as a major boost to FULafia’s mission of academic excellence and national development. He added that the introduction of these programmes will enhance access to quality education, promote research and innovation, and strengthen the university’s capacity to produce highly skilled professionals.
