A total of 163 graduates from the Faculty of Nursing Science, Achievers University, Owo, have officially joined the nursing profession following their induction by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

The event, which marked the 6th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony of the faculty, was held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Auditorium.

Representing the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the NMCN, Dr. Alhassan Ndagi, the Council’s delegate, Mrs. Oluwaseun Olanihun, administered the professional oath and urged the new nurses to uphold the highest ethical standards in their practice.

She reminded them of the core responsibilities of the nursing profession - to ease suffering, promote wellness, and protect human life - while maintaining confidentiality, dignity, and respect for patients. She also encouraged them to stay updated with modern medical knowledge and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.

In her congratulatory remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, commended the inductees for their perseverance and dedication throughout their years of study. She described the induction as “the beginning of a sacred journey of service,” adding that the University had equipped them with knowledge, compassion, and competence to excel in global healthcare settings.

“You now wear white not just as a uniform, but as a mark of purity, care, and integrity,” she said, urging them to be worthy ambassadors of the institution.

The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Science, Prof. S. K. Olubiyi, announced that the faculty recently received full accreditation from the NMCN, valid for the next five years. He also revealed that the Council approved an admission quota of 250 students per session, a reflection of Achievers University’s strong reputation and academic standards.

He added that the institution remains devoted to staff and academic excellence, offering postgraduate scholarships and automatic employment to outstanding faculty members as part of its commitment to sustaining quality nursing education.

Delivering the valedictory speech, the best graduating inductee, Miss Precious Olu-Ajayi, encouraged her colleagues to approach their new phase with compassion and purpose. “Our impact lies not only in medical interventions but also in the kindness and authenticity we bring to each patient we serve,” she said.

The ceremony also included honourary awards to two veteran nurses, Mrs. Mabel Omotoriogun and Mrs. Basirat Ajenike Oke, in recognition of their lifelong contributions to the profession. Additionally, 13 first-class graduates were presented with prizes for academic excellence.

Goodwill messages came from key figures in the Nigerian nursing community, including representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), UGONSA, and the Ondo State Ministry of Health.

The memorable event reinforced Achievers University’s standing as one of Nigeria’s top institutions in health sciences, committed to producing globally competitive, ethical, and compassionate nursing professionals.
