The University of Lagos invites qualified candidates to apply for the Prof. Ayo Ogunye Professorial Chair in Chemical Engineering. This prestigious appointment provides an exceptional opportunity for academics to lead, teach, and conduct pioneering research in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Chemical Engineering.
  • Conduct research in specialized areas of Chemical Engineering.
  • Organize research seminars to stimulate innovation and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Deliver an Annual Special Lecture and a Terminal Public Lecture highlighting accomplishments during the tenure.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:
  • Hold a first degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Have extensive teaching and research experience at a university or equivalent institution.
  • Be a full Professor for at least 10 years and meet UNILAG’s criteria for Professorship.
  • Demonstrate ongoing research activity and scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals.
  • Have the ability to supervise Masters and Doctoral students.
  • Show academic leadership, administrative experience, and strong IT skills.
  • Be of proven integrity and not older than 67 years at the time of appointment.

Remuneration & Benefits

The chair offers an enhanced salary package (CONUASS 7 plus 20% mark-up) and additional benefits, including:

Tenure

The appointment is for three (3) years, governed by the University of Lagos regulations for senior staff.
